i must admit that China is definitely a beautiful city filled with wonder, treasure, and culture. from dawn onward crowds eagerly streaming through the gates of the Forbidden City to the enormous palace of ‘Son of Heaven’ and Summer Palace, China has definitely been transformed to a imposing neon-studded shopping malls with smart restaurants and boutiques like New York, New York.
i am really enjoying my time here in Beijing going out late night seeing lights on the street and people become shrouded into darkness, as if the Chinese lanterns were being lit upon street markets offering unusual food, taste, and wine.
the wealth of pubs, music bars, and clubs here are like domain of tourists and entertainers, and the poky restaurants, craft workshops, antique dealers and silk stores in China is by far one of liveliest shopping region i have ever visited like a classical shopping strip in Las Vegas and Hollywood.
the weather here in Beijing, China is usually hazy and overcast – an odd combination of fear and exhilaration. it would also rain constantly once a day with thick humid layers of fog and smog rolling through the misty cities, streets, and lights in Wangfuijing Avenue and The Great Wall.
one place that i became deeply fascinated upon was the Yu Yu Garden. the garden was like an indecipherable maze of ancient Japanese roadways winding around buildings, ponds, dragons and crumbling walls. the setting was so alive and overflowing that i wanted to howl like a wolf in an humid hot sky – to be a part of its spirit and to be its creature.
one thing that i didn't like on the trip so far is when our united plane from san francisco to shanghai was delayed 7 hours in frankfurt due to traffic control. yes, SEVEN hours....i never had a plane that got delayed for seven hours.
despite that, i am really enjoying the scenery and the culture here in beijing, china. i am heading off to the great wall tomorrow morning, so until then..... Zaijian!!! :)
